Things needed: Practice swimsuit, athletic wear over swimsuit, towel, tennis shoes, water bottle.
Competition is optional!
As a masters diver, you will have the opportunity to experience exercise in a fun, team environment. We start with the basics and progress at a rate that is appropriate for you and your body. The goal is to foster a relationship of trust and confidence within your body.
If desired, you will have the opportunity to compete at any competitions that offer masters events (Beginner competitions exist for adults too!)
This group will learn the basics of diving and will consist of 50% dryland and 50% water training.
In dryland, we will work on coordination, balance, diving body position, basic motor skills, and the “unnatural” position of being upside down (Headstands and potentially, handstands)
You will learn drills and skills to work on building strength and keeping position throughout all jumps on dryboard and trampoline.
Once skills are mastered in dryland, they can be transferred to water training.
As skills are mastered, new skills will be added.
You will learn all basic jumps and entries on the side of the pool, 1-meter, and 3-meter as well as platform if desired.
Along with jumps, we will work on basic line up drills and skills (Head first entries), starting on the side of the pool before progressing higher.
You must master proper body control, body position, and a level or fearlessness before moving on to more complex skills.
The most important thing is to create a love of the sport and the consistency of coming to practice.
Please remember, this group is an adult level group that will be practicing alongside the youth athletes. While this should absolutely be fun, the hard work and respect that exists among the youth athletes is expected by the masters divers as well.
